Closing in on Christmas, we had no idea of where to go. We had come back to Shreveport to get some rv items and get caught up on projects (there's always something:). So, at the last minute we decided to head down Hwy 49 to Natchitoches. Most of you would remember it best for the setting of the movie "Steel Magnolias". For myself, it is the hometown of my aunts, Polly and cousin Sue. What better way to spend Christmas with family that we don't see very often. As luck would have it, a third cousin of mine, Tori Champion was graduating from college and my other aunts, Dot, had come up from Baton Rouge for the ceremony.
We had a great time visiting with all and touring the town. We spent one evening on the Cane River for the wonderful Christmas Festival. The food was unbelievable (meat pies) and the fireworks show, on the river, was the best we have ever seen! We toured a marvelous antibellum mansion and learned the history surrounding it.
Aunt Dot invited us to Baton Rouge for Christmas Eve and we had the most wonderful time with the cousins (Richard, Scott and Candy) and their families. What a great way to celebrate this great season!
